Third Year Trinity Diploma Presents…

What does Fashion mean to you? Runways, Vogue, London fashion week. But what about the side of Fashion that is only talked about behind closed doors?

Clothes influence so much of our everyday lives affecting even our thoughts and feelings so why do so many people try to fit in a box created by society? Inspired by the music of Bruno Mars, our revue therefore delves into the darker side of fashion and the issues presented by stereotypes. We also address the dangers our obsession with trends causes and the best way to overcome these; Confidence. Confidence to be comfortable in your own skin and confidence to express yourself through your clothing. We hope that everyone will feel represented through an experience shared within our revue and we aim to leave you questioning; what exactly does fashion mean to you?

Running Order

Integrate

Choreographer: Megan Hill

This piece aims to portray the clichés and stereotypes we build through fashion. Through upbeat commercial choreography we show how people can be put into their own cliques and groups just off what they choose to wear, not necessarily by who they are. But also portrays the positive side of finding people who you can relate to through fashion and creating friendships of this

Reflect

Choreographer: Carese Rogers

Assistant Choreographer: Ellie Cook

The mirror lies. It feeds your delusion that you are not good enough. Sometimes your inner thoughts are your worst enemy, making you not be able to see in yourself what others see in you.

Gratify

Choreographer: Madeleine Jones

Throughout my piece I wanted to show the journey of learning how to love yourself, and the struggle dancers have with body image. One thing I would take from this experience is your body is your career, love and take care of it.

Dangers:

Discount

Choreographer: Mia Mcloughlin

Discount is a number about fast fashion and how we know how bad it is for the environment and also the worker’s making the clothes. The number is highlighting how we realise these negatives yet still indulge.

Filter

Choreographer: Leah Campbell

Assistant Choreographer: Ethan Brenchley

“Filter” portrays the hidden truths of the fast fashion industry in sweat shops and those who work in dangerous conditions just to earn enough to live. through a neoclassical Krump fusion, we are exploring the sadness and frustration these workers feel seeing their hardworking get wasted due to overconsumption.

Hide

Choreographer: Ciaran Kitney

During my piece I wanted to portray the elements of poachers and how they decrease the population of animals to use for either medicines or clothes. I also wanted to show the cruelty that happens in our world against animals for our benefits.

Influence:

Assure

Choreographer: Teigan Ridgley

So many people seek assurance from others to feel confident. But for what happens when you break out of that stereotype, and start living for you?

Shuffle

Choreographer: Tenisha Lawrance and Jessica Fitt

This tap piece is about the difference in fashion between the two different eras. it shows how fashion has changed over the years, it also shows that we can now wear whatever we feel comfortable in. The dance shows that fashion now has been influenced by past styles and this fusion of the two eras represents that.

Prejudice:

Preconceive

Choreographer: Paddy Adair

Assistant Choreographer: Rosie Moncur

is a number about how Princess Diana was ridiculed for wearing what she wanted. Due to her being a Princess she was expected to dress in a certain way. Yet 25 years later what she was wearing became a trend and lives on in history

Whistle

Choreographer: Emma Hayes

This piece is focused on men ‘cat-calling’ and degrading women, causing women to feel self conscious in themselves and the clothes they wear. But we want to question why we allow this to keep happening?

Convince

Choreographer: Ethan Brenchley

You are strong, Powerful and Beautiful. Convince yourself that you are worth smiling for…

Expression:

Reveal

Choreographer: Milly White

Assistant Choreographer: Kacy O’Sullivan

The feeling of expressing yourself in the clothes that make you feel comfortable. A feel good number to remind us that we should celebrate fashion.

Accept

Choreographer: Faith Adams

After experiencing the journey of our show, we want to leave you with the lasting impression that whatever you wear, however you express yourself you will always be accepted just the way you are

Fedora

Choreographer: Ethan Brenchley, Jessica Fitt and Tenisha Lawrence

‘Fedora’ explores the idea of expressing yourself to the fullest by entering a new world and becoming the fedora.
